Wow! Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday that Simon was born and as of Thanksgiving day,the little bugger is one year old. Mike and Beth have been gearing up for their trip to see Derek, Katie and Simon on Christmas day. They are very excited about the opportunity to get out Port Angeles and see where the Beerys reside. Hopefully, they'll also get to spend some quality time with Zach and Hannah when they come in from Chicago with Mr. Wilson sometime around Christmas. And of course, our favorite local hound, Abby and her parents, Josh and Arden ,will no doubt be close by before Christmas. Yay!
Services for Thanksgiving went well at St. James. Jack and Sali joined us for the pre-service meal in the Fellowship hall. Everyone had a wonderful turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Two interesting interpretations of turkeys were present for Mike and Beth. One was made of a pineapple, while the other had a melon body, a pear head, raisin eyes, and pepper feet. Yes they were both quite the masterpiece.
The next day, everyone went to Beth's brother Steve's for Thanksgiving. A good time was had by all in attendance. Steve cooked a gourmet meal and everyone ate until they were going to pop. Then out for the annual Turkey Trot, just a simple, but much needed walk around the block to let everything settle.
Mike, Beth, Josh, and Arden headed back to Newton for another Thanksgiving meal with Mike's parents, Jack and Sali, while Abby, Kathy and I played around in the parsonage.
Now Mike's favorite time of year is upon us - Advent. He was wrestling the wreaths out of the attic just this morning, but I think they won. They should be up by this weekend, blue bows and all. Folks around these parts call him "blue man" because of his affinity for Advent. Go figure?!Anyway, things here are well. We wish everyone a Blessed Advent and a Merry Christmas (but not quite yet)!
